Fall

Grids always pop out to me so I thought I would give one a go.  I used lots of color here against a white background.  The hubby and I went for a walk in fall and this layout captures all of the pictures I took.

I tried to keep each square in the grid monochromatic which also made it a little more exciting.

You can also see that I used a total of five pieces of white cardstock that I water-colored.  That was also fun, I love getting out the artsy supplies!

Another view to see the dimension created by some of the embellishments.

Home

I've been in a rut lately but have a layout here and there that I get done.  Nothing is seeming to come together or I can't figure out where to start.  I have so many pretty papers I love but for some reason I can't figure out the embellishing.  I'm having a hard start figuring out what I'm supposed to use and feel like I have nothing when I truly have a lot...

I kept this layout pretty simple with lots of white and touches of aqua and silver.

Silver metallic ink was used for the Ali Edwards Stamp.  I added a little October Afternoon tidbit that matched my color scheme too.

A little cluster of a badge, tag and two hand cut heart shapes that I inked with Prima Chalk.

Some beautiful silver glitter thickers with a stamp by Ali Edwards.  I also added little enamel dots in with the ink splatters of October Afternoon Sprinklers.

Workspace Wednesday

Oh I have been absent from here for a month now and I apologize for that. I've been in one of those scrappy ruts and I'm just wanting to stare at my supplies instead of use them. I have down a few layouts but it's literally dark by the time I get home from work at 5:30 and the weekends can get a little hectic, not enough time in the day. I promise to start sharing more soon and thank all of you that still stop by, it means a lot. As for today, I captured a quick peak into my workspace following along with Marcy Penner. Do you play along too?

Sunglasses

I was digging through old pictures at my parents house and came across this one which is one of my favorites.  I can remember pulling two chairs together in the driveway, out in the sun, with my awesome heart shaped glassesAhh the life...

This was a different color scheme for me but I enjoyed it.  I kept a neutral background with a white grid patterned paper.  Some simple embellishments, a tag with some twine, a few wood veneers, some enamel dots and mist.  Done!

I liked the idea of a title with capital and lowercase letters to bring out that playful feel.  Those letters from Jillibean Soup are some of my favorites.

Routine

I've been in a good creative mind lately and am putting together some of my favorite pages.  Black and this orange-yellow color are one that I don't really do often but I love how it turned out and think you'll see it again.  I've been very into black on my pages lately and love the contrast it creates.

Ever since I took the More Happy Little Moments class at Studio Calico a few months back I have loved book pages.  For the hearts I cut out heart shapes and added a wood veneer on top as well for more dimension.  Layers, enamel dots and black mist splatters, some of my favorites lately.  I also added the strip of black washi tape on top to add some weight to the page, black works well for this.

A closer look at those book page hearts with wood veneer.  You can also see from this angle the dimension from the title "Routine" since I overlapped a few of the letters.  I die cut the title with my Silhouette Cameo using the American Crafts POW Glitter paper in silver.

I love putting clusters of embellishments together.  Little tags and clips with die cuts and some washi, just fun to add to any page.

Tucker

I love my little Tucker especially in his sweater in winter time.  Red and aqua are a big favorite color combination of mine right now and I never even thought I would like them together.  The hello friend was a little piece cut from a Pebbles sheet of patterned paper mixed with a small manila shipping tag tied with some simple twine.

I really love the brightness of a white cardstock background along with my little pup in his red sweater!  I love the tone on tone look of a simple title and thought it worked perfectly here with all the red and aqua papers and accents.

An up close look of my mist splatter's.  I started adding enamel dots to the splatters in the same color and I love the dimension it creates.

Here's another view to see the dimension in the papers and little embellishments.

Islamorada

Everyone has a happy place right?  Mine has always been Islamorada in the Florida Keys.  I've been going here since I was a little kid and my dad and his family went all while growing up too so it's pretty much a family place in our eyes.  This layout is a simple reflection on the beauty of the ocean...I love the ocean oh so much and my heart is always longing to be there, maybe someday...

Lots of layers including the amazing American Crafts POW Glitter Paper in silver I can never have too many sheets of this in my stash and think I'll die if they ever stop making it.  I just realized how much I love that aqua/mint mixed with red, talk about a "pop!"  I have so much washi in my stash and figured I should start learning new ways or at least make an effort to add it to my pages so I lined the bottom with a nice gray stripe, love the boldness.  A lot of the layers were from my Studio Calico kit this month too, always fun.  A few splatters here and there of Mister Huey in Inky Black and a little sticker from Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm and a Captured Die Cut from Chic Tags, you can't go wrong.

I've also come to the conclusion I have a love for these nice thick wood veneer arrows, love love love.  I made my title nice and simple and stuck with the gray color so it didn't draw attention away from the photo and all those layers of goodness.

A little tag placed on top of the right corner of my photo tied with twine, a star (who doesn't love stars, I think I have an addiction...) and a little Studio Calico paper clip flag.

Sneak Peak

I know I've been quiet on here lately, sorry.  I've been getting caught up on Project Life and for some reason I don't really share those all that much because a lot of the times I'm trying to get caught up.  I'm fully caught up now and think for this week I may go back to a double spread for the week, we'll see....

As for layouts, I had fun last night creating this layout but it was dark and I couldn't take any pictures in good lighting so tonight.  Here's a peak though, lots of fun layers, aqua, red and grey which I never realized how much I love!

Thanks for following along, come back tomorrow for the full reveal.

Project Life Update

I've been very busy lately in my scraproom as I got so behind with Project Life, I'm talking about 12 weeks behind or so...yea, not so good.  So I went into my scraproom determined to get caught up.  I receive the Studio Calico Project Life Kits monthly and I really do love them, they've been really good lately too!  So here's a little quick look at what I've been doing...I'm happy to say I am only 2 weeks behind right now, which to me is awesome.

So just a little look into my world, I haven't been getting too crazy about embellishing or anything, just keeping it simple and that works for me so I can get caught up.

When Riggly was a baby

when my little monster was a baby he was so tiny and oh so cute, still is but I couldn't resist creating a page that captured those first few weeks with him.

I love blues and greens but adding that touch of pink even though he's a boy makes the layout a whole new design for me but I think it's fitting for a little kitten.

A close up of the layers and the dimension created.  Love that tag from Dear Lizzy backed with October Afternoon paper.

Just more interesting angles with layers.

Life is good

This color scheme was a little out of my comfort zone but I thought it would be fun to take a shot at it.  I used lots of layers here which is always fun too and creates great dimension.

Here is the full layout with reds, oranges, and greens.  I framed a journal card and used another for my journaling.

Little labels and bits with some messy stamping, I love messy stamping when it comes to one word or a date stamp.

Another view to see better dimension and that cute camera cork sticker by Studio Calico.

You are my sunshine

Happy Thursday!  I know I've been a little quiet lately, sorry for that.  I've been creating just needed to take pictures and get them up here for you.  For this layout I created my own background paper with watercolors. I absolutely love the blues and greens and kept the layout pretty simple otherwise.

For the title I cut the title with my Silhouette and used the outline to trace it into my layout.  I then used watercolors to fill in the title and love how it turned out.

Some layers and messy stitching and thread.  I added some veneer stars I won't admit how many of these little stars I own.  I stamped on a simple stamp from Ali Edwards, I love her handwriting

Little cluster of embellishments, wood veneer and fun little jewels from Studio Calico along with some ink splatters.

Smile

I started this layout and hated the direction it was going, nothing was working, nothing looked right...and then, BAM!  This is more me, I love the soft colors in layouts but I really do love color.  I decided to pretty much start doing layouts where I pull in the colors I love for a "pop."  After watching several of Jill Sprott's videos on TwoPeas and taking her class, Scrapbooking for the Soul, I decided to go for what I love...color and layers and happy memories.

I decided to use a grid design here focusing on four corners.  I already knew I wanted to use this photo and loved bringing in the orange/pink color that was inspired from the Pebble's sticker on the tag with twine.

There is lots of dimension and visual interest on this page which I love.  I added TwoPeas exclusive clips as well to hold some of the layers and embellishments in place.

I added an adorable stitched tag from Amy Tangerine along with a sticker from Pebbles for my journaling.

A closer look at the cloud paper I cut and layered along the top of the layout.  Also, a close up of the pier slide frame that I painted with neon Mister Huey's by Studio Calico.

Thank you so much for following along and stopping by, it means a lot.  Hope you are inspired to add some color on your pages!

Memories

I took a simple photo of bathing suits all lined up in the bathroom on a vacation I took with my bridesmaids last year.  This photo has so many memories to me and that's why I decided to scrap it.  Since our suits were so bright and colorful I decided to bring that into my page.  I used plenty of watercolors and gelatos in fun bright colors for this layout...

A detail shot of the full layout.  I added die cut plant leaves from the Silhouette online store and watercolored them to my heart's content.  Have I mentioned how much I love watercolors??  I used a simple white background but added another pop of color with Heidi Swapp color pop paper.

I love how those glitter gold thickers just shine in the light, awesome!

Another view of the dimension created with the die cut leaves and all the feather and star embellishments.  I used Gesso on top of the chipboard feathers so they would have a more saturated color.  I then used gelatos to color each one in different shades.  So much fun, you have to try watercolors and gelatos if you haven't yet.

Family Parties

Family parties are always a favorite of mine.  This party was even more special since it was a welcome home party for my cousin Sarah.  She's been in Spain for the past year and I missed her!  So anyway, I picked a few photos from the day, which was mostly spent in the pool, and decided to watercolor a lot.

A look at the full layout that I used die cut arrows from my silhouette.  I cut them on white cardstock and watercolored each arrow ranging from pink to purple.  I tried to make each of the colors different so they looked like they were flowing into each other.

A place for hidden journaling behind my first photo in a cute little bag.

A close up shot of the enamel dots and the dimension from placing a few of the arrows on pop dots.

Another close up of the arrows.

One more look at the arrows, enamel dots and cork embellishments.

My Girls

I've been wanting to watercolor on everything lately.  I just love the colors and the soft effect it creates.  I die cut two of the same large flower with my silhouette and watercolored each a different range colors.

I love this stamp for some added texture.  I embossed so it was even more raised and didn't care about getting a perfect stamped image, it was all about the dimension for me.

A close up peak of the embossing and the watercolor die cut flowers.  I layered them on top of each other so the color popped and added even more dimension.

A look at the rub-ons and my title work.  I used a lovely chipboard heart and embossed it to add a little weight to the left side of the page.
